In psychology we have learnt that when you put someone through great amount of dispair, fear and disappointment, they learned to be helpless. 

But is that the same as being feeling hopeless, or is that simply just fear?

I believe that right till the very last moment, there will always be hope; like an innate quality, we cannot choose to stop breathing until we ready do.
